The first impression of the home is gained from the door. Make sure it fulfills all the criteria needed, and still looks good. A panel door consists of wood panels held in place by wood stiles and rails panels and can be made from solid wood, plywood , metal or glass. The most common type of door, it works out cheaper than a solid wood door.
A solid door consists of a lumber core or compressed wood fiber core. It can also be a rigid foam board laminated to plywood or metal facing. These are harder and more long lasting than the paneled door.
A fabricated and welded metal door with ornate designs or a grille. These give the home owner a chance to see a visitor before opening the actual door.
Hollow core wood door consists of a plywood or press board face and a honeycomb wood or paper interior core. These are usually for interior use only.
French doors are full length windows, normally opening onto a patio or terrace. These are purely decorative.
A pet door allows pets to enter and exit without the whole door opening. As it is possible for burglars to enter some bigger pet doors, today you can find doors for exit only, and electronic pet doors that allow only pets with special tags to enter and exit. This last may not be available easily as yet in India.
