A main door towards the southeast, southwest or northwest is not considered auspicious. It is always good to locate it in the north or northeast.
HOT Tip:
Make the main door slightly larger than other doors in the house. Its length:breadth ratio should be 2:1. If the height or width of the door are not in this ratio, due to shortage of space, problems related to opportunities and wealth may crop up.
DOs & DONTs
Do decorate the door with auspicious symbols like kalash, Maa Lakshmis charan pointing towards the house or swastika with Riddhi Siddhi and Shubh Laabh written on either sides of the symbol. It is believed that positive energies only enter the house that has beautiful doors. Remember to keep the door clean at all times. Make sure that you lubricate the hinges of the doors, windows and cupboards at regular intervals. Do not allow a door to make creaking sounds; these can kill all positive energies!
